Ian said ' When we speak the Word of God, it produces life and makes changes.

John said ' We speak God's promises according to His will and God honors them.  We do not speak a word and it appears.

Hello Julie
Yes, there seems to be some misunderstanding. This is how I see it. Ian and John are both right; there is a misunderstanding of what Ian was saying. When Ian said he speaks the word of God, he means God’s word, i.e. God’s promises. We can speak God’s promises into being, which is the same as John says, “we speak God’s promises according to His will, and God honours them.”
Ian would also be referring to the scripture which says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Prov. 18:21. So as we speak God’s promises, according to His will and His word, they come to life.
As an example, we know that we have healing, because 1 Peter 2:24b says, “…by His stripes we have been healed.” It is a promise, and a statement of what Jesus won for us on the Cross. When we speak out saying “By His stripes I am healed,” we are saying what God has already said, and giving life to it.
I hope this answers your question.
Two of my friends and I had a graphic illustration last week, of how easily misunderstandings can happen, when we don’t hear clearly what the other person is saying. There were at least six different misunderstandings that arose in the one morning, (simple things like who was picking whom up, and where we were meeting), but when we three all got together and sorted it all out, it was because each of us had “assumed” what the other person had meant; when they didn’t actually mean that at all. J It caused plenty of laughter when we finally got it all sorted out; but it was a valuable lesson to learn.
So if anyone at Healing Rooms says anything at all that you don’t understand, or you are not happy about, please ask me or any one of us first, and we will talk it over with you. That way there will be clear understanding, and less misunderstanding.
With blessings
Marion
